The Nigeria Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full accreditation to all the programmes offered by Nigeria-Korea Friend Institute located in Lokoja , Kogi State.

Rector of the institute, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, disclosed this recently at the premises of the institute in Lokoja while briefing journalists on the new development.

He hinted that the programmes that benefited from the full accreditation for National Diploma Certificate are Computer Software Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, Network and System Secunty, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and NVC Automotive Mechatronics.

“When I resumed as the rector of this great institution, one of my vocal areas was to ensure that we achieved a full accreditation of all of our courses in all our departments. I was in shock upon resumption to discover that the institute had not attained full accreditation even after over eight years of establishment.

“This situation had impeded the growth of the institution and was totally displeasing, hence we set out modalities to resolve this quagmire. You would also recall that between the 19th -21th of December 2023, the delegation from the Nigeria Board for Technical Education were at our institution to carry out an accreditation exercise of all our programmes.

“Gentlemen of the press, we are so delighted to announce to you and the entire public that the Nigeria Board for Technical Education has granted full accreditation to all the programmes in our institution and the accreditation took effect from January 2024”, he said.

While expressing gratitude to the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his continued interest and support to education at all levels , the Rector stated that the institute has benefited maximally from the former governor’s foresight and good gestures in education.

“This accreditation would never have been possible without his intervention. My deep and sincere appreciation goes similarly to every stakeholder within the state government who played one pivotal role or the other while we journeyed through the jungle of uncertainty.

“We also thank our partners, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their commitment and support in their own best way. The agency has shown steadfastness towards the growth of our institution. I also extend gratitude to the Governing Council, Academic Board, management, staff and students of our institution for the cooperation, dedication and commitment”, he said.
