PLHA condemns Christmas eve attacks on communities

The Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA) has in strong terms, condemned the Christmas eve attacks on some communities in Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, where over a hundred people lost their lives with many houses burnt and properties destroyed.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan Kudengbena in a press briefing issued described the attack on innocent citizens as barbaric, callous and therefore appealed to the state and federal government to not relent in ensuring that normalcy returned to the affected communities.

While commiserating with families of all those who lost their lives, he urged the victims to be patient as Government takes all necessary measures to contain the security challenges bedevilling the communities and the state at large.

The House also commends the immediate action taken by the Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima in dousing the tension to contain further upheaval in the state.

It however, called on the attention of the government to ensure it takes decisive measures towards securing the lives and properties, as well as the overall well-being of its citizens.

The House equally charged all security agencies, particularly those stationed in the various affected communities to stand firm and work proactively in the discharge of their primary duty of maintaining peace and order without fear or favour, adding that all culprits and perpetrators must be apprehended.

Kudengbena added that as representatives of the people in their various constituencies, they heartily feel their pains and will continue to identify with their sufferings, promising to do everything possible in order to support the state government in its quest to maintain peace.

The speaker in a matter of urgency directed the state government to immediately provide succour to the victims and displaced persons through SEMA while also calling on President Tinubu to come to the aid of communities affected.

Those present at the briefing include the following lawmakers: Hon. Joseph Bukar, House Minority Leader and member representing Shendam constituency, Hon. Ismail Bala Noma representing Kantana constituency and Hon. Adamu Aliyu, member representing Jos North North constituency.

Others are Hon. Joseph Gokum representing Kanke constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Galadima member representing Wase constituency, Hon. Isa Madaki Ajiji representing Jos East and Hon. Kalamu Idris Dal, representing Dengi constituency.
