THE Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA), has received a letter of communication from the Executive Governor, Simon Bako Lalong recommending the confirmation of PLASIEC members for another tenure.

The communication which was read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Yakson Sanda during plenary stated that approving the re-appointment of the Chairman Fabian Ari Ntung and six members whose tenure is over has become necessary, following their conduct at the just concluded local government elections in the state.

However, a motion was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Na’anlong Gapyil Daniel and was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Saleh Shehu Yipmong that the screening and confirmation would not be possible considering the unconducive and unhabitable condition of the hallowed chambers to which the House agreed that it be stood down.

Meanwhile, the 2022 budget which was brought up for consideration on the floor of the House was also stood down for the same reason, while a later date was fixed for deliberations on the matter.

In his contribution, Hon. Mohammed Ballo the member representing Qua’an Pan South constituency appealed to the state government to provide a more convenient and habitable venue for members to carry out their legislative duties since the gallery is in a bad state.

Members in their separate contributions condemned the destruction of the chambers, following the recent fracas that occurred describing the incident as rather unfortunate and uncalled for, which should not have happened in the first place being that it was paid for by tax payers money.

According to them and as honourable members, they will continue to do everything possible to see that peace is once again restored to the House and by extension, the whole state while unanimously calling for the provision of a temporary accommodation.
