Chairman appreciates directors, staff for commitment

KEFFI Local Government Chairman, Hon. Muhammad Baba Shehu has expressed his gratitude to the Directors of various departments and staff of the local government who have been working round the clock with him to achieve positive results since his assumption of office.

Speaking during the celebration of his 100 days in office at the council’s Secretariat in Keffi, the chairman however appealed to them to sustain the tempo of hard work, discipline, dedication and commitment to service in such a way that the people of the area would be able to reap the dividends of democracy.

The chairman then assured that the council’s administration under his leadership would continue to accord priority to  Staff welfare and other entitlements subject to  availability of resources.

“Let it be known in clear terms that this administration under my leadership would embark on a reward system on annual basis commencing from this year 2022 to staff of the Council according to Departments who distinguish themselves in terms of punctuality, neatness, decorum, loyalty, productivity and prudent management of resources in the course of discharging their duties. In each category, there shall be overall best ranging from positions 1st to 3rd,” he assured.

Shehu then stated that what his administration was able to achieve within the first 100 days in office is just a tip of the iceberg as it would be recalled that on Friday 31st December, 2021, he presented a budget of two billion, eight hundred and seventy six million, nine hundred and thirty eight thousand, seven hundred and three naira (N2,876,938,703.00) only as the Council proposed budget estimate for the 2022 fiscal year, which the Keffi Legislative Arm has already passed and is ready to be signed into law in order to expedite  action in terms of implementation and execution of projects as well as other services that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people.

“I therefore, make bold to state that the year 2022 will be a year of growth and development in all ramifications” he stated

Earlier in his remarks, the state’s Chairman of the All Progressives Party (APC), Hon. John D.W. Manmman had expressed satisfaction with what he described as the remarkable performances of the chairman in just 100 days in office.

Represented by the Nasarawa West Zonal Chairman of the APC, Architect Shehu Tukur, the Chairman described the achievements so far by the Keffi Local Government Chairman as a sign of good beginning and a mark of encouragement and a clear indication that the APC led administration is one that is out to make the lives of the people meaningful and assuring.

While congratulating the chairman for such a wonderful achievement, he assured him that the Party would continue to pay him visits as a mark of encouragement for him to do more in order to justify the mandate given to him by the people of the area.

 

Sule commissions classroom donated by reps member

A one storey building of six classrooms constructed and donated to the Government Secondary School Keffi in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa state by member representing Karu, Keffi and Kokona Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon. Jonathan Gbefwi Gaza has been officially commissioned by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Speaking during the ceremony Governor Sule lauded the giant strides of the lawmaker saying that such efforts is highly appreciated and would continue to serve as a landmark as far as development of education in the state is concerned.

Sule therefore advised the lawmaker not to relent in his efforts to better the lots of his constituents as these efforts would continue to earn him the necessary support in his political aspirations.

On the request made by the Principal for the provision of laboratory and its equipments as well as the perimeter fencing to guard against encroachment of their land and enhance the security of the school, the Governor assured that the state government would ensure the provision of laboratory equipment in a week’s time as it has already established a central laboratory in Lafia the state, capital that would serve the whole state, while that of fencing would also get all the necessary attention of the state government.

He therefore advised the Principal to provide a classroom that would be used as a temporary laboratory pending the construction of the main one in the school and even other schools across the State.

Earlier, Hon. Gaza stated that the construction and donation of the classrooms was in fulfillment of his campaign promises and he would continue to put issues relating to their welfare in the front burner.

He however advised the school authorities to endeavour to make the best use of the facilities which he believed would create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning activities.

In her welcome speech, the Principal of the school  requested among other things the provision of laboratory and its equipments, more teachers, perimeter fencing to adequately secure the school among other things, from the state government.

She also thanked Hon. Gaza for his efforts in providing the building to the school which she said has helped significantly in providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning activities in the school.
