Plateau State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Sule Musa Haruna, has described the establishment of a multi-billion naira Duncan Fertiliser Blending Plant in Larwin-Heipan of Barkin-Ladi, as a great respite to farmers in not only Plateau State, but Nigeria as a whole.

He stated this recently, while delivering his goodwill message at the official commissioning of the Plateau Fertiliser Company Heipang, where thousands of people trooped in to celebrate the new baby.

The commissioner said, “I am highly delighted to welcome you all to the official commissioning of this Multi-Billion Naira Fertiliser Blending Plant being next to none in our state. I congratulate our duly elected Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb M. Mutfwang and his entourage, the Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, Minister for Commerce, Trade and Investment and the Plateau State legislators on this great achievement.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the strategic location of Plateau State in the geographical centre of Nigeria, her favourable weather and climate as well as the available labour, confirms her a leader in food production when all that is required of her to attain this position is harnessed and put in place.

“It is indisputable that varied crops to include food crops, cash crops, horticultural crops, tree/root crops etc, strive very well on the Plateau. But all these years, our hard working farmers have been relying on other states of the federation for supply of fertiliser which has always been insufficient and expensive.

“By this commissioning, we are confident and hopeful that all problems associated with supply of this commodity will be no more and in this era of lack of food security, I stand boldly to add to the voice of our Governor: THE TIME IS NOW FOR PLATEAU TO GO GREEN”, he enthused.

According to Haruna, “Our dynamic and result oriented governor has given us a matching order to see to the reactivation of the industries that have been in partnership with the government, but have been non-functional by doing the needful. And by that, yes, Plateau will rise again!

However, an elder statesman, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, commended Dr. Godfrey Bawa, for the great achievement saying, “We are so proud that Duncan is placing this mighty industry on the Plateau. Ladies and gentlemen, this man that used to run through my legs, I never expected that I was playing with an Industrious man. He is a man that is so selfless.

“We did not know this child would grow up to that extent to be known in the whole of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So we are grateful to the community that allowed you this piece of land to help Nigerians, because this is what we now need. Thank you very much!”, he commended.

On his part, the Gwom Rei and District Head of Heipang, Da Paul D.Tok, appealed to Duncan Fertiliser Blending Plant management to, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, help in electrifying the host community and also employ their youths who are serious.
