Jonathan commissions first Jalingo flyover

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has commissioned the first ever fly over and 22 km dual carriage way in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

The projects were executed by the administration of the outgoing governor, Darius Ishaku.

The projects which cost was not disclosed consist of six pedestrian bridges, a bridge at Nukkai, a flyover bridge at roadblock and streetlights.

Mr. Jonathan commended the quality of the project, saying, “I want to commend the contractors and the governor for the quality of work. ”

“This is a project that will open up Jalingo to attract more investment.

Governor Ishaku appreciated Jonathan for affording him the opportunity to serve as a minister in three different ministries from where he got the experience to govern Taraba.

“Cumulative being in the ministry of power, Niger Delta and environment all was like a tutelage period for me, being the governor, it helped me a lot in applying all the skills I learnt,” he said.

Also, the foundation laying for a trailer park was done by Jonathan. According to Governor Ishaku, the need to maintain the highway was the reason “why we are building a trailer park”.

In his speech, the Taraba State Commissioner for Works, Irimiya Hammanjulde said the road has solved the problem of traffic accidents in the State capital. According to him, the contract for the entire stretch of the road was awarded in December 2019.
