Mutfwang condemns Fan attack which claimed one life

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has condemned the attack orchestrated by unknown persons which occurred between Nafan village in Fan District and Doruwa Babuje in Ropp District of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the state, leading to the death of a 17-year-old Fulani herder and 35 cows.

According to him, it was learnt that the perpetrators of the crime were riding on motor cycles when they opened fire on the victim, which led to his death while another person was inflicted with injury.

In a statement made available by the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), Gyang Bere, Mutfwang sympathized with the deceased family and condemned the act of lawlessness and that led to the death of the Fulani youth. He such acts undermine government’s efforts in entrenching harmonious living among all and sundry in the state.

The governor emphasised that his administration would no longer tolerate brutal killings of innocent citizens either in their farms or in any parts of the state while pursuing their legitimate means of livelihood.

He therefore, directed security agencies to hunt and track down the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and ensure justice for the victims.

Mutfwang urged traditional, community and religious leaders as well as youths and women in the affected communities to collaborate with other stakeholders to commence dialogue and restore normalcy while criminal elements within the communities were exposed to face the full wrath of the law.

The governor expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and heal the injured.
