Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State says he is committed to providing qualitative education and a secured environment for students in the state.

According to him, education remains the bedrock of every society, hence the government could not afford to play with the future of the younger generation.

Governor Mutfwang stated this when the Management of Federal Government College, Jos and the Old Students Association led by its National President, Dr Onyekachi Onyebugo paid him a visit at the Old Government House, Rayfield, Jos, recently.
Governor Mutfwang, represented by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, reiterated government’s readiness to transform the sector in line with his agenda on education.
He assured the management and the Old Boys Association of FGC Jos of government’s commitment to ensuring a secured environment and atmosphere for learning while also promising to look into the issue of drainage within the schools and the college’s multipurpose hall abandoned for years.

The governor challenged the Old Boys Association to also embark on legacy projects as a way of giving back to their alma-mater.
Earlier, President of the Old Boys Association, Dr Onyekachi Onyebugo had informed the governor that the Federal Unity Schools was marking its 50th anniversary in Jos and that all the sets from 1977 to date were represented on the visit.
Dr Onyebugo commended General Yakubu Gowon who thought it wise to establish the unity schools and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC which has helped to foster national unity in the country.

He highlighted the uncommon receptive spirit and hospitality of the people of Plateau State, noting that it was heartwarming to hear what people say about the state, and that Jos particularly, really represents what the state stood for.

He extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Mutfwang especially in terms of security, saying it was commendable and urged him to continue doing what was good for his people.

Principal of Federal Government College Jos, Mr West Obomate had also used the occasion to solicit the government’s support to secure the school, drainage and the completion of the multiple-purpose hall abandoned many years ago.
