NIMET Institute graduates 90 students, says Registrar

The Registrar of Muhammadu Buhari Metrological Institute of Science and Technology, Katsina, Dr. Muktar Abubakar-Balarabe said that the school has graduated the first 90 students that were admitted into the school.

Abubakar- Balarabe disclosed this in an interview with The Nigeria Standard recently in Katsina.

According to him, the School, established in 2017, awards National Diploma in Meteorology and in Climate Change Science.

“We also train staff employed by Nigerian Meteorology (NIMET) and those wishing to work with climate and metrological agencies in any part of the world.

“This is the only school of its type in the whole African continent that trains students and people in accordance to World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) policy to conform with UN standards.

He stated that apart from training, the institute is a “Climate Resource Centre” where stakeholders from all African countries converge to discuss climate change issues which affect Africa and the world in general.

The Registrar said that about 130 students across the country are currently pursuing different courses run by the institute.
