Police arrests woman for stealing a child

Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has arrested one Patience Solomon, also known as “Chioma” for absconding with a baby belonging to one Annabel Godfrey “f” to Lagos State without the knowledge of the parents since August 2, 2023 at about 1400hrs.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) as read by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Julius Alawari, psc, at a press briefing organised for journalists by the Command while parading various criminals and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD in Jos, the State capital recently.

The commissioner said, “We are pleased to announce to you that through intensive investigation which extended to Lagos State, one Patience Solomon also known as “Chioma” has been arrested in possession of a baby she disappeared with on 2nd August, 2023 at about 1400hrs.

“The baby was found in very good condition and was taken to the hospital for medical examination before being handed over to the mother, one Annabel Geoffrey “f” in good health. It would be recalled that Godfrey’s family raised an alarm over the disappearance of their baby”, he highlighted.

The Command also arrested and paraded one suspected Isaac Dung, “m” of adjacent Open University Jos, for vandalizing JED property/theft of armored cables on August 21, 2023 at about 0230hrs after receiving a destress call at the Rantya Divisional headquarters that gunshot sounds were heard around.

According to the information made available to journalists, the commissioner disclosed that the gunshot sounds heard around the transformer, immediately alerted a team of agile men led by the DPO Rantya Division, SP Iliya Akawu, who rushed to the scene and arrested one Isaac Dung ‘m’ of adjacent Open University Jos.

The suspect was arrested after he vandalized and stole armored cables of the JED transformer in the area and as investigation still continues, future developments would be communicated in due course.

When interrogated by team of journalists, the suspect denied having any link to JED.

Okoro, therefore said, “I would like to on behalf of the officers and men of the Command express my heartfelt gratitude to the Government and the good people of Plateau State, for the support given to me from the moment I assumed office as the Commissioner of Police in the state.

“We would not have achieved such tremendous successes without the cooperation and intelligence we have been receiving from the good and peace loving citizens of Plateau State. For this, we are grateful. We have put in place a series of strategies in order to prevent crime and ensure the security of all lives and properties within the state”, Okoro stated.
