Gov. Radda solicits Navy’s support to tackle insecurity

Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Radda has solicited the support of the Nigeria Navy to tackle the security challenges facing the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Mallam Ibrahim Kaulaha.

According to Kaulaha, Radda made the plea on Friday in Abuja when he paid a visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Auwal Gambo in his office in Abuja.

The Governor told the Naval Chief that his visit was to seek advice on how to tackle security issues in the state. Radda said that the nation was bedevilled by security challenges such as banditry and kidnapping, as such they need the support of the military, the Nigeria Police and the Civil Defence to ensure professionalism to tackle the menace.

Governor Radda said that he wanted to imitate the Borno State Joint Task Force (JTF) initiative in Katsina state to tackle the situation boss. According to Kaulaha, the governor said that security is expensive, hence the state government’s intention to deploy technology as it is being done in the Falgore forest in Kano State.

He told the Naval Chief that he has visited all the 361 wards in his state and even went to the no-go areas. “I saw the situation of my people, I sympathised with them and promised to do all I can to help mitigate the problem,” he promised.

“My government will engage local communities in fighting banditry and other criminalities ”

“We have to gather local intelligence, we have also engaged a consultant to devise an app (Alarm Technology) in our communities.

He further informed the Naval Chief that the state government will start regrouping small villages to larger towns as this would help to reduce attacks considering the fact that most of the attacks are carried out in the night.

According to him, while responding, the Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated Radda on his recent election and commended him for taking the bold initiative for reaching out to the service chiefs.

According to the statement, the naval chief pledged his support with other security operatives to fight the insecurity challenges bedevilling the country.End
