The remains of the late Hassana Muhammed Yakubu, Kaduna correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), was committed to mother earth at Bachama Cemetery Tudu Wada amid tears.

The last prayer was held for her at her Kano Road, Kaduna residence, graced by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, clerics, friends, and colleagues.

Late Miss Hassana Muhammed Yakubu died on the 9th of October 2023 after a protracted illness. She was aged 39.

Family members, friends, and colleagues of the deceased were heartbroken as they paid their last respects.

A cleric, Mallam Mohammed Abbas said the corpse of the late Hassana was a message on its own to everyone, as it shows that everyone has an appointment with death any day.

“We are not praying that we die young like her, but when death shall come, where is the last place you shall go?’’

Clerics took turns praying for the family and her twin sister at the graveside, after which the corpse was carried by friends and family members for interment.
NUJ members, relatives, and friends of the late Hassana paid glowing tributes to the deceased in separate interviews at the graveside.

The Former Chairman of Kaduna State NUJ and past Vice President of NUJ Zone ‘A’, Comrade Yusuf Idris, described the unexpected death of the late Hassana as a tragedy, not only for the family but also for NAN and NUJ families.

“It is a sad moment for the entire staff of NAN and the NUJ, family at large of Hassan. We pray to God to comfort her family members.

“May the Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her gentle soul Aljannat Firdausi as her final abode,” he prayed.

Chairman, NUJ, Kaduna State Council, Asmau Yawo Haliru, trying hard to control tears, described the demise of Hassana as unfortunate. She said that it will take the union a long time to recover from the shock.

“It is unfortunate that we lost Hassana at this tender age.”
