ALL arrangements are already in place by Jos Human Rights Film Initiative (JOHRI) to hold the 2023 Rock International Film Festival (RIFF), in Jos, the Plateau State capital starting from November 1 to 4, 2023.

This aims to celebrate the power of storytelling to bring about change through human rights issues.

The Festival Director, Henry Samson Mafulul, disclosed this recently at the first 2 press conferences for the Rock International Film Festival (RIFF) 2023, held at the conference hall of the Plateau State Disabilities Rights Commission in Jos, the state capital.

He said, “RIFF is a prestigious human rights film festival that celebrates the power of storytelling to bring about change. It will hold from November 1st to 4th, at the Jos National Museum Auditorium.

” This year, RIFF is excited to unveil a carefully curated lineup of films that delve deep into the heart of human rights issues.

“We are also honoured to announce the presence of some remarkable special guests at this year’s festival. Renowned filmmakers, activists, and other inspiring individuals will be gracing RIFF with their insights and experiences. We invite you to join us for four days of thought-provoking cinema and discussions.

“The Rock Awards ceremony is another highlight of RIFF, where we recognise outstanding contributions to human rights storytelling through film. This year, we are excited to announce that the award will be presented to a group of filmmakers who have used their craft to amplify the voices of marginalised communities and give a platform to important human rights issues”, Mafulul highlighted

The Director, however, enthused that from stories of resilience in the face of adversity, to powerful calls for justice, this film festival would ignite conversations and inspire action.

He further pointed out that RIFF was proud to partner with a variety of organisations and initiatives that were dedicated to promoting human rights and social justice.

According to him, “these partnerships will allow us to reach a wider audience and have a greater impact. We are excited to share more details about RIFF 2023 in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates on our website and social media channels. Let’s make RIFF 2023 a celebration of storytelling, human rights, and positive change”

Mafulul added that the human rights festival is aimed to enlighten people about their rights violation and that their major challenges were publicity and they were hoping for not only local or national, but internationally where our local films would be promoted.
