The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has commiserated with the family , friends of the late State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Honourable Sylvanus Namang.

He gave the condolence message on Saturday during the funeral service of the late APC chieftain held at the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Hwolshe Giring, Jos South Local Government Area.

Late Sylvanus Namang, who was one time General Manager of the Plateau Publishing Corporation (PPC) , printers of the Nigeria Standard Newspapers group of newspapers
was killed on the 17th of February by suspected kidnappers in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state.

While calling on Plateau people to be united in the fight against all forms of insecurity, Mutfwang charged the people that “One thing that we need to do again as the people of Plateau is to continue to be our brother’s keeper.

“Like the Hausa people would say, it is only a madman that throws a stone into the market, because you don’t know who it may hit, it could turn out to be your own relation, the governor emphasised.

“So I beg of us, let us stop the rumor mongering and the insinuations. Let us look out to God. There is nothing hidden under the sun. Everything that has happened under the sun will be revealed.

“If anybody has any shred of evidence that anything wrong was done regarding this death, please make it available, it will be dealt with appropriately,” he said.

Mutfwang reminded all present that death should remind us to number our days and also urged politicians to desist from politicising Namang’s death.

He pointed out that “It is always better as the scriptures admonishes, to go to the house of mourning than the house of feasting because no matter how crazy you are, when you go to the house of mourning, and you see a casket lying, it puts sense into your mind.

“The prayer therefore for myself and those of us who are here this morning, is that may God teach us to number our days, and to apply our hearts to wisdom.

“The worst disrespect we will give to Mr Namang is to politicise his death. Please, let us not do that”, the governor pleaded.

In their separate tributes, Mr Jeftha Jackden, who spoke on behalf of friends and Mr Rufus Bature, the state Chairman of APC both urged the state government to look into the circumstances leading to the death of Namang. They added their voices to that of thousands charging the government to do more to protect its citizens.

The wife of the deceased described her husband as a dogged fighter who fought for the common man and said she was optimistic that the perpetrators of this heinous act would be fished out and punished appropriately.

The deceased retired as a Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), North Central of Nigeria .
