The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, has commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, for his benevolence in directing the immediate payment of half salaries and pensions to civil servants and pensioners across the state as Ramadan gPift.

Most of the state civil servants who spoke to our correspondent, described the gesture as timely, considering the economic challenges most families are battling with and the high cost of living.
