PLSG to relocate State Library Board

The need for the relocation of Plateau State Library Board, Jos, from its present location to a serene area, has been raised and termed as necessary by the Plateau State Government, in order to give readers a conducive and comfortable environment to read.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashom, made the assertion recently, while playing host to the management of Plateau State Library Board who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the JD Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos.

The commissioner said, “After a week of my appointment as a commissioner, I was at the State Library and it did not strike me as a library, because you cannot have readers in this kind of environment. It is supposed to be in a serene atmosphere, conducive for learning.

“The population of Jos-Bukuru metropolis has grown and things are not as they were. We cannot have a library where there is a theatre where people come dance and play. You cannot have a library close to a motor park, the Plateau Riders and some illegal parks.

“After the tour, I went back to His Excellency and he said we should look for a befitting environment to relocate the library to. A place that is centrally located. We can even exchange with an agency or ministry that can accommodate the rosiness of the library’s present location.”

According to Ashom, “We will continue to support projects that touch and change people’s mindsets, projects that give people new ideas and orientation. That is why PLSG plans to relocate State Library Board
