Potable water scarcity: Residents jubilate over early rain

Residents of Lokoja, Kogi State, North Central Nigeria, have gone into jubilation as a result of the early downpour in the capital city which according to them now serves as alternative means of access to potable water.
“Our earlier prayer, no doubt had evoked divine intervention for “God to send down  the rain” in the face of the biting effects of scarcity of potable water they encountered in the state capital”
Our correspondent in Lokoja reports that substantial parts of Lokoja, capital of Confluence Kogi State, such as Gadumo, Adankolo, Ganaja, Kabawa, Felele, Phase 1 and 2 Areas among others have been facing scarcity of drinkable water since October 2022 flood.
It is also reported  that the flood submerged the water equipment at the Lokoja Greater Water  Works, Ganaja, thus putting stop to supply of potable water to the larger members of the public in the state capital.
Some members of the public who spoke with our correspondent recently in Lokoja, sent passionate appeal to the state government to solve water problem, in view of its importance in the lives of the people.
According to them, lack of drinkable water had brought  untold hardship to their living condition and social economic activities.
