NEWLY promoted Gombe United FC has received a boost for it’s premier league campaign when the Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, donated a brand new TaTa bus to the club.

The club had remained in relegation for the past two seasons, but it’s recent promotion to the premier league has excited the Government and supporters of the club.

The excited Governor also gave a marching order for the upward review of the monthly subvention of the club from N12 million to N20 million with immediate effect.

The Governor who presented the long awaited bus gift after the Savannah Scorpions walloped Super Pillars 4-0 in a friendly match at the Pantami stadium said the gesture was in appreciation of the club’s heroic outing at the just concluded 2020/2021 Nigerian National League (NNL) season.

During their NNL campaign, Gombe United lost only one match, drew seven and won the remaining matches.

The Governor also told the management of the club to hire the best players from anywhere in the Country as Government is ready to support the club to remain in the top league of the country.

According to Governor Yahaya, “You have done well for promoting the club back to the nation’s premier league against all odds.

“Gombe United has been a household name everywhere you go in the country. You’ve done your part by securing promotion to the premier league, now it is our turn to reciprocate the gesture”, he applauded.

The Governor then paid tribute to the founding fathers of the club, particularly, senator Haruna Garba, who was in attendance at the presentation ceremony.

He also showered encomiums on the management, technical crew, backroom staff, the players and supporters of the club for a job well done.
