NPFL: Plateau United wallop Doma rivals 4-0

IN their quest to secure the Continental ticket, Plateau United Football Club of Jos have walloped visiting Doma United Football Club of Gombe 4-0, in the match day twenty-nine of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), played at the New Jos Stadium recently.

David Onovo scored the opener in the twentieth minute of play which gingered the Peace Boys to take total control of the game. Their persistence paid off as in the thirtieth minute, David Barnabas netted the second goal while Sunday Anthony and Bernard Mundi sealed the game.

Commenting after the encounter, Coach Mbwas Mangut of Plateau United expressed happiness with the brilliant performance of his boys, saying that, after losing three straight matches, this result would motivate the team.

He further stressed that relying on a particular player in scoring goals was not healthy for any team because all players were expected to be good at scoring.

“In a team where every department can convert goal-scoring opportunity, it is good for the team. Some days back, we only had particular players scoring.  But recently, players from different positions [have] converted goal-scoring chances. I’m happy with that,” he noted.

The coach promised to work harder on the team’s scoring ability, especially as they urgently needed to win their away matches to enable them achieve set targets.

On his part, Akinade Onigbinde, Manager of Doma United Football Club of Gombe, revealed that they came with the intention of winning the match but lost due to defensive errors committed by his boys and refuted the claim that his team were defeated due to fatigue.
