The Chairman of the Benue State Football Association (BSFA), Paul Edeh, has pledged to do more for the development of sports in Nigeria.

Edeh, who is a Barrister at law, made this pledge on Monday while receiving the Meritorious Award from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT Chapter for recognising his contributions to sports development in the FCT and the country at large.

Edeh called on other stakeholders to support the growth of sports within and outside the FCT, describing sports as a veritable tool for human and economic growth.

The President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation, said that such an award can only be attracted by evident roles in sports development.

“For me, when I see an award like this, it is a testament that what we are doing is not out of place, but setting an example, setting the pace for which others ought to follow. I also see an award like this coming from a reputable organisation such as SWAN as an honour that cannot be bought by money.”

He further reiterated his commitment to collaborate with SWAN to do more to develop sports within and outside the FCT.

“Looking at the efforts we have put into the development of sports generally, it is safe to say that a lot of vacuum has been left in the past and the little void we have been able to fill is deserving of such a meritorious award from SWAN.

” Our collaboration with SWAN will continue for a very long time,I consider this a rare honour that has been bestowed upon me and I promise to do more”

Earlier, the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN FCT Chapter, Mr. Ndubueze Chidoka, while presenting the award, urged the recipient not to relent in his efforts to reshape the sports sector.

The award comes just days after FCT SWAN held a successful annual SWAN WEEK in Abuja.
