Sports Commissioner collaborates with SWAN to revive sports

The newly sworn-in Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development in Bauchi State, Alh. Muhammad Salees, has pledged to revive all sporting associations in the state.

Salees made the pledge recently while interacting with some former national and state leaders of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and General Manager Albarka Radio in Bauchi.

He said as Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development in the state, his vision is to make sports not only an entertainment but an industry where youths will become purposeful by engaging themselves in various sporting activities that will give them employment, considering the fact that today sports is a money making venture all over the world.

The Commissioner seeks the support of SWAN in the state to partner with his ministry by creating innovations that would be another source of youth employment when fully developed.

In his words ” Bauchi State Government under the good leadership of Senator Bala Mohammad, has big plans for sports development in the state. Personally, the governor has a vision of getting youth gainfully engaged in various sports”.

Hon. Salees, assured good sports loving people of Bauchi State that Governor Bala Mohammed is ready to do everything humanly possible to bring back the past glory of the state by hosting and participating in competitions to maintain its name as Mecca of Sports in Nigeria, where every athlete from within and outside the country will be wishing to visit.

The sports Commissioner also assured that his doors will always be left open to all those that will come and add value to sports development in the state. Adding that athletes and coaches will be encouraged to put in their best in the interest of the state in all subsequent state, national and international competitions and will be rewarded accordingly.
