The apex body of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has raised an alarm over the continuous killing of Christians in Southern-Kaduna, blaming both the state and Federal government for playing deaf-ears to the series of attacks and onslaught on Christian communities in Kaduna State.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the ECWA President, Rev. Stephen Baban Panya, Thursday and made available to Sunday Standard in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, following series of attacks by suspected armed Fulani militia on Christian communities of Kaduna State.

The President said, “ECWA is particularly worried that these continued massacres and destruction in our Christian communities have become too much to bear, considering the fact that the state and especially the Federal government have neither said anything of worth about the killings nor have shown concern on the plights of the communities whenever they are attacked.

“It is very disturbing that these daily onslaughts on Christians in Kaduna State and Southern –Kaduna in particular, have been going on for long unattended by   the Federal and State Government as if the lives of Christians no longer matter in the areas under attacks. This is suggestive of a complete state of anarchy.

“Sadly, these three days onslaught against the peaceful Christian communities went on without the intervention of the armed security forces deployed to the areas to enforce the curfew. Yet the villages were restricted in their homes on account of the curfew and prevented them from putting any resistance to defend their communities against the attackers”, he narrated.

The statement revealed that, there were no sympathy visits by either the State or Federal Government to the remnant victims in the affected communities to alleviate their sufferings by providing relief materials to them since they have been made Internally Displaced Persons in their thousands.

Rev. Panya, disclosed that even in the face of these recent attacks and impending ones, the Fulani militia were still sending strong warning and threats on these communities and thereby creating fears and consequently relocating the surrounding communities saying, “it is unfair to place a curfew on indigenous communities while letting enemies go after and cut them down defenselessly.

He called on the Kaduna State and the Federal Government to show more commitment and sincerity in securing the Christian communities in Southern parts of Kaduna State and appealed for urgent need to reach these displaced communities with relief materials and also protect them to help stop the killings.

The President, however, sympathized with the families and communities who had suffered loses their loved ones as a result of these attacks and prayed God to continue to comfort and strengthen their faith in these trying moments, pleading with the security agencies to protect the lives of these people they swore to protect.
